[field title=”Proposal Story”]8 years ago, Parker asked Lauren to be his high school sweetheart and the rest is history. They went on to attend Texas A&M University, where their relationship grew stronger amongst many football games, date parties, formals, and even attending some classes together.Following graduation, the two moved back to Houston Texas where they decided to plant their roots and bought their first home together.
They always knew they would get married one day, but Parker knew the moment they brought home their golden retriever puppy, he needed to plan how to ask the big question. Lauren is notorious for figuring out details, especially when her sister Leah ask to get her nails done. However, with the help of friends and family they worked relentlessly to keep this a surprise.
As Parker’s family usually sends out Christmas cards every year, Parker suggested they take family photos with their new addition, Piper. Lauren wasted no time in ordering Piper a red checkered bow, as Parker worked behind the scenes ordering a bandana that said, “My humans are getting married!” If you are familiar with Houston weather, you know October can be on the warmer side, but Lauren followed the “Christmas” card theme, purchasing a sweater dress, while Parker dressed in a classic checkered button up. On 10.22.22, the three went to the Mcgovern Centennial Gardens ready to take family photos, after Parker spent the week scouting the perfect park backdrop, with his cousin ready as the photographer. As they began wrapping up photos, Parker insisted on taking a photo against the waterfall as he got down on one knee and popped the big question, as Lauren said “Yes!” Afterwards, they made their way back to their house, where their closest friends and family eagerly waited to celebrate the two. Lauren always envisioned herself in a simple wedding gown, so when it came time to go dress shopping she only made one bridal store appointment at Belleame Bridal Houston hoping to find “the dress.” She fell in love with the Essex gown by Allison Webb, a strapless trumpet gown with delicate beaded embroidery, cuff neckline, and of course, an embroidered bow for a southern touch. Lauren had a custom veil made to compliment her gown with delicate beading scattered with touches of lace. Classic Manolo Blahniks were added for Lauren’s, “something new.”

It is no secret that blue looks great on everyone and because of this, the decision to wear blue satin gowns for the bridesmaids was easy. Each gal had the opportunity to select one of two gowns from the Show Me Your Mumu bridal line and each wore it beautifully too!

Hors d’oeurves included a range of seafood and southern options including Mini Shrimp And Lobster Rolls, Classic Chicken & Waffles, along with Mini Quesadillas, of course! Usually choosing a menu can be difficult; however, for Lauren and Parker choosing Italian food was one of the easiest wedding planning choices they made, serving Penne Pasta Alla Vodka with Italian Meatballs and Classic Alfredo with Julianne Chicken. The groom, along with his father and brother enjoy grilling together, the two offered a casual Shish Kabob station with Honey Garlic & Lime Marinated Scallop & Prawn Kebobs,Thai Peanut Chicken, Snow Pea & Basil Kebobs, and Hoisin BBQ Glazed Beef Kebobs. To end the night, the bride wanted to include a fun way to celebrate her Mother in Law that recently passed. Patricia Smith was notorious for opening up her home to friends and family, and always had homemade baked goods and a cocktail ready for guests. The “Late Night Snack,” included homemade chocolate chip cookies from Ruby Lu’s Bakery coupled with Espresso Martinis presented in a frosted martini cup.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]A Courtyard Florist filled the reception room with oodles was classic blue and white florals. Lauren selected the timelessness of long stemmed roses mixed with blue hydrangeas. Each table enjoyed the sight of magical arrangement. Her approach to the ceremony arch was that of celebrity status. Lauren wanted to create a garden-worthy picturesque ceremony that was a feast for the eyes. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

Sweet Piper, Lauren & Parker’s golden retriever pup did not get to partake in the weekend festivities, however her image lived one throughout many of this wedding’s details. Particularly, Piper was featured on both the bride and groom’s cakes. Parker notoriously loves cookie cakes so the A&M cake was a two tiered cookie cake.

Lauren featured a stunning beaded satin bow on the back of her ceremony gown, and when the time was right, she swapped into a fun mini dress from Alexia Maria that also featured a large bow on the back for some sexy personality pics around the hotel.[/field]

When choosing a wedding venue, Parker and Lauren settled on The King & Prince in St Simons Island, GA. As the bride’s family has been going to the Island to visit family for years, along with many family events at The King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort, the venue and location held such special memories. When Lauren first brought Parker to the Golden Isles, he fell in love with the coastal small town with its friendly, warm, and welcoming sunny beaches, along with its whimsical oak trees, rich with history. Lauren and Parker were so excited to share the island with their closest family and friends, as the two decided to take a leap of faith and have a coastal destination wedding from Houston, Texas.
