“At the end of the day, we really wanted our wedding to be a chain of thoughtfully curated, design-forward events that felt like us in an experience,” Lucy says. “That meant bright colors, lots of texture, food we loved, amazing drinks, and overall, an upbeat and exciting atmosphere.” From hanging floral baskets to guacamole carts and a candy-themed seating chart, the weekend skipped the expected and leaned into fun. Every moment was planned with their personalities front and center—bold, a little cheeky, and never too serious.

Tim proposed at his family’s lake house in Donner Lake, near Tahoe, in September 2023. It was private, personal, and completely unforced—just the two of them in a place that already felt like home.

Menu “We love Mexican food and wanted to serve an a la carte family style for guests to choose their own adventure,” says Lucy. “We started with an amazing aguachile, for a crisp and refreshing first course! We then served an avocado salad (more avocados, hehe), followed by grilled totoaba fish and birria-style beef with tortillas and all the fixings. It was the perfect intersection of upscale but approachable and casual. We are not serious people, and we wanted our dinner to mirror that!!” Signature Cocktails Lucy: a spicy guava margarita Tim: a Mexican old-fashioned.d Welcome party drinks included coconut margaritas and hibiscus mezcalitas.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Designed by Pinacate. Big, messy piles of florals lined the aisle for an undone, organic feel. The arch featured a light wood structure with flowers swirling up and strands hanging down just enough to frame the couple—loose, wild, and perfectly imperfect.[/field]

Wedding Cake: A simple vanilla cake with guava filling by Zadún. At the rehearsal dinner, a sculpted SF Giants baseball cap cake stole the show—double chocolate and fully custom.

Personal Touches Candy cart seating chart: “We’re candy people,” Lucy says. Instead of a traditional seating chart, guests found their names on a custom candy cart—colorful, personal, and sugar-fueled. Cocktail napkins featured doodles by Lucy’s preschool students. “We now have them framed over our bar cart as keepsakes.” Worry dolls at each rehearsal dinner seat, in honor of her Grammy, alongside handwritten notes to every guest. “Pop’s Guac Cart” at the welcome party—named in memory of Lucy’s dad, an avocado rancher.
