A classic, colorful, chic, formal, alfresco affair with SCAD Ivy Hall as the backdrop and design inspiration. The ceremony took place on the garden lawn. The bride loves old homes and architecture so the glamorous SCAD Ivy Hall was a natural choice. Designed by noted architect Gottfried L. Norrman in 1883, Ivy Hall is a fine representation of Victorian architecture and is situated conveniently in midtown Atlanta. The jewel tones of the red brick and green and gold detailing served as a beautiful jumping-off point for the complimentary color palette.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]We were driving to my parents’ house to spend the night because (I believed) we were going to my friend’s baby’s baptism the next morning. My mom asked us to stop at our family farm on the way to their house to discuss a very real project that was underway she wanted me to see — very believable. This was right around sunset and I could tell it was going to be a good one. Matt asked if I wanted to ride the golf cart to my favorite spot on the property — a beautiful field with a hill and a good view of the sunset. At this point I kind of thought something was up. We sat there for a few minutes and then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him with a ring we’d designed together using the diamond from my grandmothers engagement ring. I said yes and we sat watching the rest of the sunset relishing in the moment and then headed back to the farm house. Waiting for us were Matt’s parents and several of our closest friends waiting to congratulate and celebrate with us. That was the bigger shock — all of those people in on the plan and learning that the baptism had been made up all to get me to the farm. Matt knows how special of a place it is to me and he wanted the moment to feel personal and perfect for us — I’d say he did an impeccable job![/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]For my wedding dress, I knew I wanted something classic but with a twist. I had fallen for so many of Lela Rose’s dresses online and I went to Kelly’s Closet specifically because they carried her gowns. Throughout the dress shopping process, I was drawn to lots of different floral elements, some 3D, some more embedded in the fabric, but I knew that element would be there. And then I found myself repeatedly liking an off-the-shoulder neckline. When I finally tried on my dress — in Lela’s signature Magnolia fabric — I knew I’d found my dream dress. The silhouette felt so classic but the fabric made it feel like me.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Picking out the bridesmaids dresses was a really fun process and one of the first things that brought my vision to life. I liked the fully mismatched bridesmaids look, and have seen it done so well, but I knew the colors I was going for could be hard to coordinate/easy to clash if that wasn’t done in person. I also knew that unknown would be a challenge for me to let go of so I decided to pick 3 dresses for 3 of my bridesmaids each. The Sachin and Babi Jade fabric is my absolute favorite color and was an easy place to start. It took some trial and error, but my maid of honor and I went in person to play around with a couple options to find another solid and a pattern that paired together well, in similar material. The Amsale dresses felt like the same tone as the lighter dress, just 3 or 4 shades down the paint chip. And I loved that the Reformation dresses had a floral pattern to tie back to my dress. I also gifted my bridesmaids earrings in a floral design that gave them all something in common and were very reminiscent of the florals on my dress.[/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Matt really enjoyed the process of researching suit and tuxedo styles ahead of our wedding, and ultimately he decided he wanted two looks for the night. Who among us can blame him? He went with a classic black tux for the ceremony and all of our portraits, but he changed into a white dinner jacket for the reception. Both are classic looks fit for a groom but the dinner jacket really matched the mood of our outdoor wedding at this beautiful southern old house. The outfit change was a big crowd pleaser. [/field]
