[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Jen came up with a bold idea to have their wedding at Miles’ family shore house on the bay in Strathmere, NJ. After deciding on this at-home venue, Jen and Miles picked their first dance song: “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by the Beach Boys. This choice set the tone for their wedding, which they envisioned as fun, vibrant, slightly retro, and a bit funky. To bring this vision to life, they enlisted Kristin Phalines of KyleMichelle Weddings. She transformed the backyard wedding into a joyful, exciting celebration where Jen and Miles could tie the knot. The design featured an open-air tent, stunning florals, a disco ball installation, playful linens, rattan accents, and serpentine tables.[/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]The weekend after one of their friend’s weddings, Jen wanted to have a “low-key” weekend down the shore at Miles’ family house, but Miles had other ideas. Miles had invited his best friends Connor, Kevin, and Kevin’s wife, Ali to come hang out and of course to be around for the proposal. Unfortunately, they woke up to a chilly, rainy day the day Miles wanted to propose. To combat some of the pre-proposal nerves, he suggested they go to the boardwalk to play mini-golf. Jen was a little suspicious of the way Miles had been acting early in the weekend and after they got back from mini golf (Jen lost badly and does not like to lose), she confronted Miles over lunch and said, “you know for some reason I thought you were going to propose this weekend, but the day has been so normal that I don’t think that anymore.” And Miles did a great job laughing it off and assuring her it was not the weekend for that. However, a few hours later, Miles suggested they take their dog, Carl, for a walk on the beach before dinner. This was a pretty normal occurrence, so Jen didn’t think much of it (even though Miles was rushing her out of the house for some reason). They got to the beach, let Carl off the leash to run, started walking, and about 10 seconds in, Miles got down on one knee and pulled out the ring box he had in his pocket. Neither Jen nor Miles really remember what he said when he asked, but it was an enthusiastic (while crying/laughing) “yes” from Jen. They started back toward Miles’ shore house and one of Miles’ friends came out of the dunes and had captured photos of the whole thing. Once they got back to the house, Miles surprised Jen again by having invited her parents and close girlfriends down for a small engagement party! Later that night, Jen had the crazy idea of, “what if we just got married here?” at the shore house. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Jen chose a dress from Kinfolk Bridal designed by Newhite, which featured beautiful organza optional sleeves. She chose fun pink rhinestone heels by Gucci and a white shell-shaped Simkhai purse. She had a full rhinestone/disco ball reception/after party dress by L’agence. [field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Jen’s matron of honor chose a bright blue Norma Kamali dress. [/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Jen and Miles’ wedding was also uniquely catered by Miles’ family restaurant, La Porta, located in Media, PA. Expert restaurant management group, Stove and Co., was brought in to help with the day-of service and bartending. Their signature drinks were an orange crush (Miles’ favorite) and a spicy margarita (Jen’s favorite). The menu featured a mix of italian-meets-Jersey-shore fare, with specialties like lolipop lamb chops, a full raw bar, a carving station with roasted turkey breast and beef tenderloin, and a spicy ravioli ala vodka. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Sebesta Designs came in to create an amazing floral display, featuring bright pinks, oranges, and greenery. The bride’s bouquet featured pink/coral anthurium,
raspberry garden roses, lavender mikado spray roses, peach and coral ranunculus, and orange/coral/gold free spirit garden roses framed by draping green hanging amarathus and wispy sprays of chartreuse pennycress. Sebesta created an incredible flower arch to frame the front of the house, under which Jen and Miles were married. In the tent, the same flowers were artfully arranged into mini vases and arrangements for the tables. The centerpiece of the tent was a grouped disco ball display framed by chartreuse greenery which was stunning and unique in contrast to the traditional black and white checkerboard dancefloor. [field title=”Wedding Cake”]Jen and Miles chose three smaller cakes for display, created by New June bakery. The cake that Jen and Miles cut was a baby blue heart-shaped matcha berry cake decorated in the retro lambeth style, complete with red cherries. There were four other cake flavors for guests to sample. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]The ceremony was performed by two of Miles’ childhood friends, clocking in at around 12 minutes, and complete with lots of fun anecdotes and stories as a celebration of Jen and Miles’ love. Short and sweet. Miles and Jen exchanged private vows during their first look at the beach where they got engaged earlier in the day. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]Music was very important to Jen and Miles, and they chose EBE Talent Band, Pop Philly as their ceremony and reception artists. Jen and Miles’ first dance was to “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” by the Beach Boys. To continue the fun, retro vibe, Jen and Miles asked Pop Philly to play mostly 70s, 80s, and 90s dance music, which had the dancefloor full all night. Jen’s night was made when the band ended the night with one of her favorite songs (and perfect way to end the wedding), “Last Dance” by Donna Summer. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]With the wedding at Miles’ family shore house, where he and his three older brothers grew up, Jen and Miles wanted to pay homage to the years of fun the family had along the way. Miles and his brothers had named the house years prior, the “PALace,” so Jen and Miles made custom sweatshirts for their families with the unofficial slogan of their wedding “Party at the PALace.” This was also printed on the koozies available to guests to take home! [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Jen had the idea to end the ceremony with her and Miles walking away from the house and getting into a getaway car. Luckily, Miles’ dad had just the thing for them: a green 1997 Bentley Azure convertible. Miles and Jen hopped into the car, and Addy, their photographer, hopped into the back seat with them to get some of Jen and Miles’ favorite photos of the day–them speeding off into the sunset (even if it was just around the block).
