When planning the wedding, the bride knew they wanted a venue that felt distinctly New York—classic, elegant, and full of character. Indian weddings are known for their vibrant colors, so they leaned into a diverse palette with pastel pinks, corals, sage green, and soft blue. One of the bride’s favorite parts of the planning process was designing the stationery. We found an amazing stationer based in Milwaukee—Bay View Printing Co.—who brought together my vision of classic botanicals within the context of an Indian wedding. It felt so personal and unique.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Mohit proposed during a peaceful fall hike in the Hudson Valley, surrounded by turning leaves and crisp mountain air. It was an intimate moment—just the two of them, quietly tucked away from the world. Afterward, they spent the afternoon lingering over pasta and champagne, savoring the joy of the moment before sharing the news with their loved ones. That quiet time together, before the beautiful whirlwind of wedding planning began, became one of the couple’s most treasured memories.[/field]

The bride knew from the start that she wanted a column silhouette—something effortlessly elegant that would still allow her to dance the night away. Surprisingly, finding a minimal yet impactful gown proved more challenging than expected. Her search led her to Emilia Wickstead’s bridal collection, discovered through a blog feature, and it was love at first sight. As fate would have it, the designer was hosting a two-day trunk show in New York just as she was finalizing her decision. Her mother flew in from Florida to join her for the appointment, making the experience all the more meaningful. With her mom’s eye for timeless style and heartfelt support, saying “yes” to the dress became a cherished memory. Later, the two traveled together to London for a custom fitting at Wickstead’s flagship—ensuring every detail was perfectly tailored. The trip doubled as a dreamy girls’ weekend and a celebration of the bride’s once-in-a-lifetime moment in a gown that felt effortlessly her.

There was no official bridal party, just groomsmen, but a few friends stepped in and hung around for photos that the bride wanted to commemorate their presence for the day. The men wore black tuxes while the girls wore Pastel Floral

[field title=”Food & Drink”]Dinner was a refined affair featuring handmade ricotta and kale ravioli, draped in browned butter and scattered with crispy shallots—a dish that felt simultaneously rooted in tradition and elevated for modern palates. For the entrées, guests chose between a perfectly roasted beef tenderloin, deeply flavorful and served with a rich reduction, and a lemon-infused roasted chicken, bright and herbaceous, finished with a light jus.

The couple’s curated signature drinks brought a vibrant flair to the celebration. The “Smokin’ Mo”—a bold blend of jalapeño tequila, mezcal, and fresh lime—offered a sultry, smoky kick. For a more floral and effervescent option, the “Hibiscus Highball” was crafted with vodka, St. Germain, hibiscus syrup, and lemon—a sophisticated sip that mirrored the event’s garden ambiance.
These handcrafted cocktails were served in elegant stemware alongside a full bar offering top-shelf spirits. The setup itself was a vision: artfully arranged bottles, and delicate champagne pours captured in motion as bubbles cascaded into flute glasses.[/field]

Under the soaring glass ceilings of the conservatory, the reception space glowed in the golden light of dusk. Tables dressed in soft blue linen created the perfect backdrop for lush floral centerpieces in sunset shades of blush, peach, and coral. Garden roses, ranunculus, and peonies overflowed in footed glass vessels, accented with greenery that added natural texture and dimension. Tall blue taper candles in translucent holders cast a romantic glow across the tablescapes, while delicate votives scattered throughout added an intimate flicker that complemented the floral color story. Every element, from the white Chiavari chairs to the layered place settings with tailored menus, felt cohesive, intentional, and steeped in understated luxury.

The wedding cake was a vision of simplicity and grace: a three-tiered, buttercream-covered confection adorned with fresh garden roses and peonies in warm apricot and punchy coral tones. Set on a soft blue linen table and surrounded by grounded florals, it stood like a sculpture—minimalist yet striking, and perfectly aligned with the overall palette and tone.

One of the most symbolic and visually striking moments was the Akshata Arpana, also known as Akshata Varana—a ritual in which rice is gently poured or tossed over the couple’s heads. This act of showering rice serves as a powerful symbol of blessing, abundance, and fertility. As the grains fell like confetti of good fortune, it was a reminder of the community’s shared hopes for the couple’s prosperous, joy-filled life together. In some interpretations, this gesture is also tied to the bride’s farewell to her family, offering rice as a gesture of gratitude and love for the care she received growing up. Another poignant moment came during the Saptapadi, or Seven Steps, where the couple took seven symbolic circumambulations around the ceremonial fire. Each step represented a sacred vow—a promise to walk together in friendship, fidelity, strength, and devotion. As they moved in unison, it beautifully illustrated the establishment of their new life as equal partners, committing to a journey through the spiritual and the everyday as one. Together, these traditions created a meaningful foundation for the celebration—deeply emotional for the couple and moving for every guest privileged to witness it. It was a ceremony rooted in reverence and overflowing with love, where every gesture carried layers of story, symbolism, and soul.

The music was also a reflection of the couple’s backgrounds. The bride is Greek and Cuban American, and the groom is of Indian descent but was raised in the Middle East. The couple really wanted the reception to celebrate their family’s traditions. They had dhol drummers to kick off the groom, Mohit’s baraat, and brought them back out during the reception to play along with Hindi pop songs. There was also plenty of Latin music and some of our favorites throughout the night. Closing out the evening with “New York, New York” was one of the most memorable moments—it felt like the perfect way to end the night.

Paired with the soulful stylings of a live electric violinist, who played beneath trees just outside the conservatory during the cocktail hour, the entertainment created an unforgettable atmosphere—equal parts refined and celebratory.
