A Desert Wedding With Hanging Flowers, Gilded Blooms and Countless Fun Surprises!

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]Our wedding vision was to have soft and romantic decor that WOW’d the guests — especially when it came to the flowers! We brought in some modern glam elements to freshen up the delicate palette by using items like acrylic altar stands, mirrored dining tables, and gilded blooms. Jamie & Ben always knew they wanted some kind of hanging floral element, so we brought their design to the next level with lush hanging florals suspended above the dinner tables. With a starry, fairylight canopy and soft drapery swags overhead, we envisioned a romantic, glamorous and fun night for everyone to remember! The after party was always a big part of the vision as well. We dreamt of a retro pink & mirrored after party bash with girly retro vibes as a fun homage to vintage Palm Springs. [/field]
[field title=”Proposal Story”]Jamie & Ben met in college at Gonzaga University in Washington state. After college, they moved to Seattle, and Ben started secretly shopping for engagement rings with the help of Jamie’s mother and sister. For his proposal location, Ben always knew it would be at Thunderbird Country Club. This club was always a big part of Jamie’s life, with her family being longtime members and having a home there. Jamie’s aunt and uncle were even married at Thunderbird Country Club many years before, and Jamie had always had described this as her dream wedding to Ben. He popped the question on the back lawn, with their families secretly watching them from inside. This same proposal spot was later the area where they would hold their wedding reception and start the rest of their lives together as husband and wife. [/field]

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]Jamie wore the “Fabiana” dress by Galia Lahav, which is a sleeveless floral A-line gown that features a sheer corset bodice and a full skirt made of silk organza, tulle sparkly floral embroidery and 3D floral embellishments throughout. Jamie customized her dress to change the scoop neckline to a sweetheart neckline, and also made the straps detachable so she could choose to wear it strapless. Her Mach & Mach shoes were the perfect pair to her stunning gown, with a thicker heel to ensure she didn’t sink in the grass. [/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]The bridesmaid dresses were floor-length champagne gold dresses from Show Me Your Mumu. They had a crisscross halter style neckline that flattered each bridesmaid and beautifully framed their face in photos. [/field]
[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]Groomsmen wore navy J.Hilburn suits that were tailored to perfection. They each wore coordinating ties and white shirts. Their boutonnieres were all floral pocket squares that easily slipped into their jacket pockets and stayed in place all day. Chic yet functional! [/field]

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Since the bride had grown up going to Thunderbird Country Club with her family, it was important for her to incorporate some classic Thunderbird elements into her wedding. One example of this is that the club is famous for their rotating flavors of specialty popcorn, so we added mini popcorn cones to each of the signature cocktails, which were attached by mini clothespins. This was the perfect way to snack and mingle at cocktail hour. The popcorn was even a custom flavor for their special day!

Jamie and her mom are also well-known candy fiends, so it was important to them that we included an amazing candy bar as part of their after party. Guests could fill up goodie bags of candy to take home with them, adorned with custom stickers for Jamie & Ben’s wedding.

The venue tray-passed In-N-Out as the late night snack while guests danced the night away in the afterparty. [/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Florals were a huge part of the wedding design. We wanted something their guests had never quite seen before, but without being too over the top. We worked with Butterfly Floral to create the most magical, glamorous and fun floral design. Gilded blooms were an unexpected touch that were blended into every arrangement. Flowers covered every area of the wedding including doorways, seating charts, table tops, pianos, and anything else you can think of! [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]As a nod to their playful side, they always knew their wedding cake had to be funfetti flavored. The 5-tier wedding cake sat on top of a lush floral base and had wrap-around flowers embedded into the cake up to the top tier. On the ground, at the base of the cake table, we repurposed ceremony aisle flowers to create a lush glamorous aesthetic that made the cake area really stand out. [/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]Jamie and Ben are extremely close to their families, so it was very important to them that Jamie’s grandfather was their wedding officiant. Jamie even did a grandfather’s first look after her father’s first look. It was really important that both of their families felt included in all parts of their wedding weekend. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]The after party was located inside the nearby ballroom. We opened up the drapery walls during dinner as a grand reveal to our pink & mirrored, vintage Palm Springs inspired retro-glam dance party. Special features were the gorgeous white and pink retro lounge seating by Revelry Event Designers, pink tufted DJ booth seated on top of a floral-lined white stage. There was even a custom photo booth backdrop made with fabric from the NY Veuve Cliquot ceiling drapery. The bride’s family is a HUGE fan of champagne and this special touch was one they will always hold near and dear to their hearts. The neon sign “The Thackers” was the perfect finishing touch to this fun photo booth. [/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″]Being more of a sneakers girl, Jamie wanted to change into her Golden Goose tennis shoes as soon as she could on the wedding day. After the first look and all the photos pre-ceremony, she opted to switch into her Golden Gooses before walking down the aisle! Nobody could tell since her long beautiful wedding dress covered them, but she was so happy to walk down the aisle in both style AND comfort! [/field]
