The couple decided to get married in Indian Wells, where Mary’s parents reside part-time and they have enjoyed many trips with family and friends. The color palette was based on the soft desert sunset and beautiful surrounding mountains. The wedding design embodied an organic, yet modern vibe by adding pops of natural textures like stone and wood.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

Mary, a popular LA pilates instructor, and Kwesi, a surgeon, met during the pandemic. From Mary: We did a road trip up the coast, stopped in Paso Robles, Big Sur and ended in Carmel by the sea…after lunch on our way back to our hotel, we went on a walk on the beach and he proposed then! Went to dinner and stayed the night in Carmel…drove home the next day and he had a whole surprised engagement party planned with all my friends and family there at our friends house…I had no idea.

The bridesmaids wore mis-matched sage green dresses from Mary’s sister in law’s clothing brand SHow Me Your Mumu. The bridesmaids met up for a day in the showroom and got to choose the style that made them feel fabulous. They chose the Moss Green Luxe Satin fabric from the bridesmaid collection.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]The bartender served a spicy skinny margarita in honor of the bride’s heritage and a trinidad sour in honor of the groom’s home country. The menu consisted of a fresh vineyard salad to start and followed with seared salmon, bourbon braised short ribs or a vegetable towel as the entree.[/field]
[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The floral arrangements contained an assortment of pink, white, and peach flowers. The florals, rentals and signage embodied soft romance and natural desert vibes. We created two completely different tablescapes for the rounds versus the banquet tables to give the room dimension and play with different textures.[/field]

One of Kwesi’s “must haves” was excellent dessert and he took tasting very seriously. The night ended with 3 separate flavored cakes; red velvet, rainbow funfetti, and weekend cake and was accompanied by mini cupcakes in nine original flavors from Over The Rainbow.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

Mary’s talented friends offered to sing some of the most important songs at their wedding. Sody, sang “Feels like home” by Bonnie Raitt as Mary’s bridal walk down the aisle. Jenna Ushkowitz (famously in Glee) sang their first dance song, the Lauryn Hill version of “I Can’t Take My Eyes Off You”.

Mary’s something borrowed was her bridesmaid Nicole Bruno’s veil from her wedding earlier that year and her mom was dressed appropriately for her something blue.

The flower girl dresses were custom made by SHow Me Your Mumu to match Mary’s Sarah Seven slip dress (and are now available for purchase, the Little Verona dress).

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]As the band ended their set, the natural lull in the night as we transitioned to a DJ was masked by Mary’s wardrobe change into a full sequin bodysuit by Show Me You Mumu, and Mary and Kwesi re-entering the party, handing out light up glow sticks for all guests.[/field]
