A Heartfelt Backyard Wedding with Earthy Florals and Antique Touches

Our wedding venue was my parents’ house and yard. I chose it because nothing local was standing out to me for the vision I had in my head. When my parents suggested it, I knew it would be perfect. The landscape itself was so beautiful, and no one else could have a wedding just like it. For my aesthetic, I wanted a very clean look with earthy colors and unique florals. I focused on the antique hydrangeas and hellebores. We also used white orchids because Colby loves them. I spent the year collecting antique brass candlesticks because I wanted a warm and inviting atmosphere.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

For our third anniversary, Colby and I took a trip to West Palm Beach. We started the day with snorkeling at Peanut Island. Later that day, I wanted to take some photos to post for our anniversary, so we got dressed and went to The Breakers Hotel. We found a lovely spot in the garden, and I set up my tripod. While I was taking Bluetooth photos of us, Colby got down on one knee and proposed. I had been tricked into taking my proposal photos (I am a photographer.) To finish the night, we went to a beachside restaurant for dinner.

Kim Kassas from Bridal Reflection in New York City, I chose my wedding gown because it felt like me. I wanted something no one else would have. It felt real, and I loved all the details. In the middle of the bust, there was a dangling pearl, so I incorporated pearls into my jewelry. I loved the laced bodice as well as the intricacy in the beadwork.

I let my bridesmaids pick their dresses! I wanted them to feel their best and wear a dress they truly liked. I gave them a color scheme, and they all picked amazing dresses. They chose an assorted from Reformation and Anthropologie.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Walkers Drive-In catered the wedding. We wanted the food to be interactive, so we had a pasta served from a cheese wheel and a pizza oven. Some of the other food we had was brisket quesadillas, truffle deviled eggs, rosemary honey chicken, truffle French fries, and more. We included signature drinks, a Cosmopolitan and an Old Fashioned.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

When it came to my florals, I wanted less of a bridal look and more of a lived-in, architecture digest-esque look. The showstopper was all of the antique hydrangeas. I love the look of organic shapes and drapery in florals. We also used white orchids, hellebores, and pink roses. When it came to the colors of the flowers, I wanted them to still have a fall feel without being jewel tones.

After the reception, we exited through a web of streamers to get to the getaway car. The car was my dad’sPorscheee 930, which he gave me lessons on driving leading up to the wedding.
