The couple were planning to get married in 2021 but they had to cancel it due to coronavirus. Their wedding was eventually planned for the 29th of May 2022 and it was marvellous in every way. The British couple traveled with their families and friends to Syros Island, which is very special for the couple, and got married at Ermoupolis Town Hall. Chris’s wedding ring is antique in the family and Nadia’s is made from Carter and Follows Brighton. The Town Hall of Ermoupolis on Miaouli Square is one of the largest and most impressive Town Halls in all of Greece. It was built in 1876 under the supervision of Ernst Ziller and costed a very large for the time! This is a very unique building with a three-storey facade on the side of the square and two-storey facade on the back side of the building which bears striking details, two wings with five vertical window shafts left and right, overhangs, towers, and more generally a typical architecture inspired by 3 different architectural styles. The Tuscan style is featured on the 1st floor with the imposing staircase of 15.5 meters in width, the Ionic style is found on the 2nd floor, and the Corinthian that can be observed in the towers. The couple chose Syros as Chris’s Grandparents built a villa on the island in the 70’s and his family come on holiday there every year. They love it’s incredibly friendly people, charm and it’s beauty. The first time they visited the island together, eight years ago before the wedding, they said if they ever got married, it would be there, and they were excited to share this special place with all their friends and family.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Just before their 10th anniversary Chris proposed by setting up a fake job for Nadia – Nadia is a makeup artist, so he had a friend of a friend book her for a pretend job at a hotel by their favorite spot in London, and waited for her in the room to surprise her. She has never been so shocked and they spent the weekend soaking it all up on cloud 9. The Diamond ring (engagement ring) is Chris’s great-grandmother’s.

[section title=”The Details”]
[field title=”Food & Drink”]Our reception was held at one of our favourite restaurants in Syros called Mazi. Their food is exceptional and as this was one of the most important aspects of the wedding for us we knew we were in safe hands. The food just kept coming! It was a mixture of family sharing style starters and salads along with main courses and a chocolate dessert. The style of food is Greek fusion with the freshest seasonal and local ingredients. We also had late night gyros and free flowing cocktails all evening.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]We had the incredible local florist, Iosif, and his Maragos team. They brought our vision to life of wild-looking dried and natural flowers. We have kept the bouquets at home as a reminder of the day. [/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”] Our wedding cake was a naked lemon cake decorated with berries, it was so tasty and made by a local bakery Athymaritis.
[/field]
[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]We had our talented friend Alice Dale play the piano instrumental versions of Is this love by White snake and Extreme ways by Moby for the ceremony and the readings we chose were Everything I know About Love, by Dolly Alderton and a letter from American author and Nobel laureate John Steinbeck to his son.[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We did all of our stationary, we made our invites, menus, and order of the day cards as well as confetti packs.
[/field]
[field title=”Special Detail #2″] It’s tough to choose a favorite moment as there were many but we had to walk down the aisle twice due to a miscommunication which was quite funny and memorable. We also had a special moment after the ceremony to debrief together, on our own. Our favorite crafted detail was our invitations, the Syros sealine hand drawn by my maid of honor Megan, we used this drawing throughout the wedding.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]Chris and I have been together since we were 16! We’ve grown up together, so have watched each other take on many challenges and seasons in life that have brought us closer together and made us who we are today. We don’t have a lot of typical hobbies that we share, but we love going for walks together, getting coffee, and talking about life. Likewise we’re very different on paper, but that means we challenge (hopefully!) complement each other, and instead have a lot of shared values and philosophies on life.

We chose Syros as Chris’s Grandparents built a villa on the island in the 70s and his family come on holiday here every year. We loved its incredibly friendly people, charm and it’s beauty. The first time we visited the island together, eight years ago, we said if we ever get married it would be here, and we were excited to share this special place with all our friends and family.
