how he popped the question
Rasha and Haider met in Dubai, where Rasha was on a work assignment. Haider is originally from the UK and was in Dubai on business as well. Their relationship was long-distance for a while, as Rasha had to go back to Canada for work. Later on, Haider came to visit and meet her family. During a romantic dinner in Ottawa at the courtyard restaurant, on a snowy winter day, he surprised her with flowers and a ring and proposed to her!
what they wore
Rasha, the bride, donned a custom handcrafted beaded gown with an accompanying overskirt in a beautiful champagne tone. The beaded elements featured intricate sprawling florals. Rasha’s bouquet, by Pollen Nation, was a composition of bright and effervescent florals. Haider, the groom, donned a classic dashing black tuxedo.
a spirited palette and custom details
Orchard View, the chosen venue, was completely transformed by Pearl Decor, turning it into a show-stopping setting. From the dance floor to the smallest design elements, the couple’s custom monogram was thoughtfully incorporated, infusing a sense of unity throughout their modern luxe wedding. Vibrant pink hues adorned the décor, paying homage to their daughter’s spirited taste. Inspired by their journey, their celebration featured travel motifs, including personalized, handwritten postcard seating charts representing Ottawa, Birmingham, and Dubai. Their custom monogram adorned the generous dance floor.
The wedding design was shrouded in secrecy, leaving guests in suspense. The invitations intentionally withheld any hints, presenting a different design than what awaited them on the big day. Witnessing the expressions of awe and amazement as guests discovered the jaw-dropping modern luxe ambiance became a memory I will not soon forget. In fact, my own reaction was just the same!
an epic flower girl dress
Their adorable daughter graced the aisle in a tulle ballgown fit for a princess. She completed the look with a bright pink rose bouquet and a tiara. Does it get any cuter?!
modern florals
From the climbing floral installations to the modern test tube arrangements on the tables, Pollen Nation took the decor for this wedding to another level. We love how they minimized the greenery in these arrangements to make the colors of the flowers themselves really pop!
a clever cocktail hour
One of the notable highlights of the celebration was the cocktail area, which cleverly incorporated a phone booth as an homage to Haider’s British upbringing. This unique touch, adorned with exquisite florals and featuring a phone guest book provided by Lexi Booth, added a touch of whimsy and personalization to their modern luxe Ottawa wedding.
even the food had a special meaning behind it
A truly mesmerizing flute player greeted the guests, as they made their way to their seats. As guests ventured further, they were welcomed by a lavish draped hallway, illuminated by towering candelabras, leading them to the grand reception space. Each course of their custom menu was meticulously curated, not only for its culinary excellence but also for its significance to their journey. Guests embarked on a culinary adventure as they savored dishes accompanied by descriptions of their importance to the couple’s relationship. British fish and chips paired with Canadian poutine also made an appearance for the late-night snack bar as yet another homage to their respective countries. They decided to forgo the cake and go with a full-on dessert bar full of their daughter’s favorite things, which was a sweet gesture for her. This was noted on the menu stationery for guests to look forward to as well.
a shower of flower petals and fireworks
After the first dance, flower petal confetti was released along with an extravagant fireworks display that illuminated the night sky, creating an atmosphere filled with wonder and delight. The dazzling bursts of color and light kept the good vibes going and left guests so excited. It was a surprise for them.
