This joyful tented wedding in the Texas Hill Country featured a rich fall color palette full of texture and warmth. While the bride and groom weren’t tied to any design specifics when starting the planning process, they knew they wanted it to have a garden feel and for florals to be at the forefront of their design. Correlating colors were tied in through the mismatched bridesmaid’s dress and linens, and their gallery wall-styled seating chart. They loved their venue, Windemere Farms, and didn’t want to do too much to take away from its natural beauty.

From the bride: The original ruse was that I was photographing my sister in law’s family out at Houston Oaks Country Club – where they spent time as kids growing up. They have a gorgeous little 15th-century chapel that was transported to Houston from France, where we met. She told me to set up my gear while she grabbed the family for photos. Pulling everything out of my bag, I heard the chapel door open and close behind me. I turned around to see Vinnie walking towards me. Immediate tears on my end…He pulled me back to the front of the chapel, read me the sweetest letter (which I am so thankful he had because I truly blacked out from bliss and excitement), and asked me to marry him. After a very loud shout of “Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes,” we were joined by both of our families to celebrate!

The bride’s dress was Jenny Yoo, purchased from Anthropologie. The bow straps were a custom addition she had done through a local tailor. We love that while she embraced a trending style (bows!), she did so in a way that felt timeless and true to her.

A big part of Ashlen’s design vision was having her bridesmaids in various colors and patterns, all in various hues of green and blue. While mismatched dresses have become a wedding design staple in the past few years, we love that the approach for this wedding placed a larger emphasis on pattern and didn’t shy away from more vibrant colors. The result was perfectly curated and full of personality.

For this hill country wedding, the bride and groom served a Tex-Mex feast for their guests. Fajitas and chips, and queso filled the plates, and the margaritas were flowing. Alongside that were two featured signature cocktails — an Aperol Spritz and a Godfather. The drinks were garnished with a drink stirrer of their dog and served alongside custom cocktail napkins.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The fall color palette was on full display between the lush florals by Rose & Rae Design, the linens from BBJ La Tavola, the mismatched bridesmaids’ dresses, and the paper goods and signage done in a calligraphy style. With the emphasis on the garden-style florals, we knew all of the other design elements needed to align with and highlight the florals without overpowering them or being too plain. When sourcing the linens, we wanted them to read “neutral” but with warmth and pattern. So we selected muted latte and cameo (like a muted blush) linens for the round tables and selected a large-scale floral patterned napkin that had pink and light teal tones. On the farmhouse table, cocktail highboy tables, and cake table, we opted for a muted pink patterned runner, which differed from the napkin selection but complemented it perfectly. All of this added warmth to the tent and highlighted the floral tones that were placed on top of it. As for the tent design, we featured the head table running the length of the tent, which was adorned with lush floral meadows and candles. Round tables were placed symmetrically surrounding it, with the bar on one side of the tent and the band and dance floor on the other. When guests entered the space, they were greeted with the couple’s seating chart — a collection of mismatched frames on a wallpapered backdrop. All of this was accentuated by calligraphy-style paper goods with a vibrant blue accent color.

The bride and groom had a small dairy-free and gluten-free cake for cutting, which was surrounded by lush florals. For their guests, they had a decked-out candy bar, which was a nod to the groom’s sweet tooth. Jars were filled with everything from Swedish fish to sour patch kids, and more. Guests could grab a bag and take their loot of candy to go.

From the bride: Another detail that was extremely important to us was communion. We wanted this to be our first act as a married couple and truly be a time of worship. We had friends lead in a song live while we served each other communion, and then immediately served our wedding party and parents communion. It was such a sweet part of our day.

From the bride: The biggest special detail was that our day was so rainy and not ideal weather. But as soon as Vinnie and I had our first look, we both immediately told each other, “We are getting married in the rain and it’s going to be amazing.” I love that we chose to embrace the weather of the day because I cannot imagine our day any other way. We are so thankful for everyone who gladly sat in the rain/mist and celebrated alongside us. From the planner: The weather was certainly a curveball, but one that the couple, their guests, and their vendor team embraced wholeheartedly. We love that Ashlen & Vinnie didn’t let it detract from their day, but instead leaned in. The result was like something out of a Nicholas Sparks movie, and it made for a memory that no one will forget!
