Ann and Luke wanted the vibe to feel organic, natural, and true to San Miguel de Allende. The city and its colors are so vibrant, and with Alaia Floral’s refined and unique style, their design leaned into natural hues with lots of greens and white blooms. Bold blues were incorporated in the maid of honor’s dress, the signage, and some of the dance floor props as a nod to the iconic blue Talavera hand-painted plates.

[field title=”Design / Vibe / Vision”]
The vision for the entire weekend centered around Ann and Luke’s hope that they could have their family and friends, the bride from Texas and groom from New Zealand, all together in one central place for a celebratory vacation. It was that initial goal that led them to the venue, Casa Cariño, which had room for 14 guests to stay with the couple and enjoy San Miguel de Allende. Design was focused on enhancing the villa’s natural beauty and bringing elements of San Miguel artistry and natural beauty into the fold.

The bride’s dress was custom-designed and handmade by Elizabeth Leese, a sustainable bridal designer based in Dallas, Texas. Leese worked to source multiple laces, hand-cut them for the floral motifs to align perfectly, and perfected the gown over multiple in-person fittings. The designer also created a second reception dress, a classic thin strap mini dress with a trending tool floor-length skirt.

Dinner was served family style by Penzi Weddings and shared between guests, with rounds of tenderloin, seabass, tongue carpaccio, and finally a coffee crème brûlée. During the courses, a bottle of 1998 “La Casa” Cabernet was opened, having been purchased in the year of the bride’s birth by her parents and aged with the forethought of opening it at her wedding one day. At the time they purchased the bottle, of course, they could not have predicted her marriage would take place at a place called Casa Cariño.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]The bride decided just to have a few flowers in the ceremony. Because Casa Carino has so many bouganvillia, she decided to only have candles at the tables, and bistro lights in the tent.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]
The chef at Casa Cariño baked a mille feuille cake (with a few adjustments) especially for the bride and groom. Messy by nature and delicious nonetheless, the couple finished the cake with powdered sugar, per tradition, from a brass sugar sifter passed down from the bride’s family.

[field title=”Special Detail #1″]We got our wedding photos in a little box delivered to our door. Each image sets off a wave of mental pictures, memories from the scene as I experienced it. They are treasures.
And that’s really the whole point. Grateful for Daniel and Ashley and the way they see the world and how they share it with others. They showed up in a thousand ways beyond what we imagined. “Thank you” doesn’t cut it.
So grateful to have married Luke surrounded by so many incredible people that mean so much to us, these memories mean the entire world. What a day.[/field]
