The couple, being high school sweethearts, wanted to be wed at a secluded estate in their hometown. She wanted airy, natural, summery, and artistic.. Nothing over the top and no bright colors. From the beginning, the aesthetic was very ethereal and “Secret Garden” vibes.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]
After moving across the country to Los Angeles, we were preparing to head back east to Boston to celebrate the holidays. 2 weeks before leaving, Danny not so subtly mentioned wanting to have a date night on Tuesday, December 20th, and to pack an outfit accordingly. Preplanned weekday date nights were extremely out of the norm, so I had an immediate spidey sense that an engagement was happening that night and couldn’t wipe the smile from my face. Little did I know Danny had been in communication with our friends and family for months, planning a perfect surprise. Fast forward to Dec 20th. It was a normal work day, and nothing felt out of the ordinary. Danny had plans to pick me up from my parents’ house to go to a colleague’s art show that I thought didn’t exist. Danny borrowed his grandma’s ancient Saab to romantically take us downtown, however, that didn’t go exactly to plan. We barely spoke or made eye contact with each other during the entire 30-minute drive. Instead, Danny was frantically texting on his phone, which gave me more reason to think that an engagement was imminent. After finally reaching our destination, we parked, and I immediately noticed Danny’s mom’s car in a nearby spot. Another green flag! It was a particularly frigid evening, and we were bundled in down jackets on our walk to the “gallery.” In my head, I had no idea where we were going, but I knew this whole gallery idea was a ruse. Lo and behold, an art gallery appeared, and I immediately doubted any sort of engagement happening that night. That flash of doubt melted away as soon as we walked into a quiet space covered with a black curtain. Danny encouraged me to take off my jacket and bag, which I did hesitantly, and behind the curtains was the most romantic setup of blanket, candles, champagne, and a giant screen with a projector. Danny told me he had something to show me and pressed play on a nearby computer. On the screen started flashing memories from the last decade of our relationship. I was in shock, and Danny had to tell me to sit down and watch with him. Danny is a photographer and has been capturing our moments since we were 15 years old. The video made us both laugh and cry, and ended with a picture of Danny fake proposing on a dock in Cape Cod, 8 years before. I can’t exactly say what came after that, but there was a bent knee and the words “Will you marry me?” followed by a yes. It was perfect.

Guests were greeted with a beverage cart filled with Negroni’s and Skinny Margaritas and loads of passed hors d’oeuvres. Guests then sat at the reception to a little gem and burrata salad and then had the choice of short rib or striped bass – very summery and perfect for early June. We continued to tons of mini passed desserts and late night bites.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]One of our favorite details from the day was the Chuppah. The bride, Jordan, wanted it to appear organic with an added touch of drape. We mapped out the perfect tree for the Chuppah to live under in the gardens at the venue. Naturally placed under the beautiful tree on the property, we were able to blend the ceremony in and complement the existing garden space. The dedicated white blooms and draping accented it so well. Jordan and Danny served two small heart-shaped wedding cakes, “just-married” and “J+D” written across them both, because two cakes are better than one!

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]In the reception, guests heard toasts from the parents of the bride and the best man who was the groom’s older brother. They chose to dance together for their parent dances, the bride with her father and the groom with his mother. They ended with an epic dance party. Having been together so long they had a great group of guests who were so excited their wedding day was finally here![/field]

The ceremony was a perfect blend of traditional Jewish elements and more modern touches, very specific to them as a couple.

One extremely special moment in the wedding ceremony was when the bride walked down the aisle to a surprise song for her husband-to-be. The groom, Danny, is obsessed with the show New Girl, and in an episode where one of the characters gets married, she walks down the aisle to “Still” by Seinabo Sey. It was only fitting that our bride walked down to the same song and yes, tears were shed.
