Taryn wanted a wedding that was going to be timeless, elegant, and something she could look back on forever and love just the same, so we chose a classic palette of white, green, and wood tones that both blended perfectly with the venue but highlighted how intimate their day was.
The overall aesthetic was timeless and sophisticated, with a strong focus on intentional design. Events by Genevieve brought the couple’s vision to life with an editorial approach to layout, flow, and visual storytelling. The design was classically romantic, with lush florals, luxurious textures, and thoughtful use of natural light. Personalized touches — like custom calligraphy signage and bespoke welcome bags from San Juan Island Sea Salt — added a sense of intimacy and refinement.

[field title=”Wedding Gown”]The bride wore a beautiful gown from Kleinfeld Bridal, featuring dramatic structure, a giant bow on the back, and romantic detailing. The silhouette was both sculptural and feminine, designed to move gracefully while making a powerful visual statement.[/field]
[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]
Bridesmaids wore soft, champagne-toned dresses from Birdy Grey, each style offering subtle variations in neckline and silhouette to complement individual preferences. Their matching robes and slippers — also from Birdy Grey — added a sense of cohesiveness to the getting-ready suite.

[field title=”Groomsman Attire”]
The groomsmen were dressed in classic black tuxedos with crisp white shirts and traditional black bow ties, perfectly in step with the formal yet understated elegance of the day. The styling was minimal and timeless, complementing the bridal party without overpowering the overall aesthetic. The Groom wore a custom tuxedo by Robbie & Co. in NYC. He had their wedding date embroidered on his cuffs and his and her new last name, “York,” sewn into his suit lining, a special homage to his step-dad, who raised him.

Catering and bar service were provided by Roche Harbor Resort, known for its exceptional Pacific Northwest cuisine. Signature cocktail featuring their famous Great Dane Bruce (as the Brucerita) added a fun personal touch to the celebration, while guests enjoyed a curated dining experience that emphasized seasonal flavors. Champagne was served from a statement champagne wall provided by Pennies Rentals — both a design element and a crowd favorite. The champagne wall was lined with a custom toile pattern that featured important things to Taryn and Alec: The Empire State building – the view they see from their NYC apartment, peonies, which Taryn and her mom grew in their garden together growing up, Roche Harbor, their wedding venue, a ferry as a nod to Alec’s Anacortes roots and the iconic way all their guests arrived at the wedding,. and monogram thoughtfully designed by Honest Calligraphy, featuring clean lines but a romantic touch of florals.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Emerald City Flowers designed lush arrangements with a focus on layered neutrals and soft blush blooms, incorporating texture and movement through thoughtful floral selection. Tabletop styling was anchored by BBJ La Tavola linens, ribbed candles from Pennies Rentals, and elegant tableware from Cort Party Rental. Small chandeliers from Vintage Ambiance and large chandeliers from Noble Rentals added a romantic glow, while custom signage from Honest Calligraphy and On the Wall Design Studio tied the entire design story together.[/field]
[field title=”Wedding Cake”]
In a playful and personal twist on tradition, the couple opted to forgo a classic tiered cake in favor of one of their favorite treats — bundt cakes from Nothing Bundt Cakes. Each guest was served an individual mini bundt cake, creating a charming and interactive dessert experience that felt both thoughtful and delightfully unexpected. For their own cake-cutting moment, the couple shared a full-sized bundt cake in their favorite flavor, confetti — a choice that reflected their personalities while still feeling celebratory and elevated in presentation.

Set in a garden overlooking the harbor, the ceremony was serene and deeply personal. The bride made her entrance to a live rendition of I Will Always Love You, arranged and performed on piano by Aaron Buckner — an emotional and unforgettable moment. The couple exchanged written vows to each other; some of the most heartfelt and moving vows we have had the pleasure of witnessing. The backdrop was simple yet elegant, allowing the natural beauty of the setting and the emotional weight of the moment to take full presence.
