Der Wagen gehört Prinz Charles und wird mit Bioethanol betrieben. Der krönende Abschluss der offiziellen Feierlichkeiten (am Abend ging die Party im Palast freilich weiter).
“Seine Mutter wäre so stolz auf ihn”, stand am Morgen am Cover des englischen Massenblattes The Sun: “Ein Echo von Diana hallte durch London.” Die ganze Eheschließung sei ein einziger Tribut an die 1997 tragisch verunglückte Mutter.
Sir Elton John, dessen Candle in the Wind die Welt beim Diana-Begräbnis zu Tränen rührte: “Als Junge musste William hinter dem Sarg seiner Mutter durch London gehen”, so der Sänger, “jetzt schreitet er durch die Abbey mit dieser wunderbaren Frau.” England hat eine neue Königin der Herzen.

“Kate war eine sehr schöne Braut. Schleier sieht man heutzutage nicht mehr oft. Das war überraschend, finde ich. Die Hochzeit war eine wirklich außergewöhnliche Zeremonie. Menschen brauchen anscheinend Märchen, um sich aus dem Alltag entführen zu lassen. Ich würde das nicht verdammen.”

“Ich war um Punkt 9 in der Früh vor dem Fernseher. Mein erster Eindruck: Die Beckhams haben echt toll ausgesehen. William und Kate hatten auch eine tolle Ausstrahlung. Ihr Gesicht, der Schleier – sehr schön! Beim Jawort sind mir fast die Tränen gekommen, obwohl ich weiß, wie perfekt alles inszeniert wurde.”

“Kate wirkte sehr natürlich und souverän und wesentlich sicherer als damals Diana. Überrascht hat mich die Hochzeit. Sie wirkte ja fast wie eine normale Trauung. Wenn man aber die vielen kleinen Details beachtet hat, so merkte man natürlich, dass da extrem viel Hofetikette im Spiel war.”

“Ich finde die Inszenierung sehr schön anzusehen, mit großem Prunk und Pomp, so wie es die Engländer lieben. Ein wunderbares Brautkleid, zwar klassisch, aber nicht zu klassisch. Die Wahl des eher modischen Brautkleides sehe ich als Indiz, dass die beiden für einen Wandel im Königshaus stehen.”

“Ich habe die Hochzeit unglaublich genossen. Eine wunderbare, toll inszenierte Feier. Kate und William waren so locker und nett, ein wirklich vorbildliches und sehr schönes Brautpaar. Wie lange das Ganze hält, weiß man in der heutigen Zeit natürlich nie. Aber Kate wird schon vernünftig sein.”
