star-crossed lovers

indian wedding in new york

After meeting at a cozy bubble tea shop, Anisha and Oliver discovered an undeniable connection after a few hours of conversation. What they didn’t realize at the time was just how intricately their stories were intertwined. As time unfolded, they learned that Anisha’s father had emigrated from India to Dutchess County, New York—a journey mirrored by Oliver and his family, who settled in the same region years later. In a serendipitous twist, Oliver even attended the same high school Anisha’s father had years before. Their lives had crossed paths in meaningful ways long before they ever met. They spend their days with shared passions: cooking, baking, hiking, biking, and cherishing moments with their beloved pets.

the vision: a celebration of nature and tradition

orange and yellow wedding ideas

Anisha and Oliver’s Indian wedding was a celebration of nature and tradition, set against the stunning backdrop of the Hudson River. Designed by Chandai Events and executed by Florista Decor, their day was hosted at The Grandview in Poughkeepsie, New York, with beautiful waterfront views for the couple’s first look along the docks. The couple’s ceremony blended smaller, meaningful traditions into larger, unifying rituals, symbolizing the coming together of their families. Events included the Sangeet, Baraat, and a stage ceremony, covered in florals and greenery. The ceremony took place in an opulent outdoor tent with crystal chandeliers and a mandap draped in warm hues of orange, peach, and yellow roses. Golden lanterns, candles, and floral arrangements lined the aisle, creating an earthy yet elegant ambiance. The ballroom reveal featured a breathtaking display of neutral roses illuminated by floating tealights — a truly magical moment.

Both wore traditional Indian attire, carefully purchased during Anisha’s trip to India with her parents. Their selections included lenghas, saris, kurtas, turbans, and intricate jewelry like earrings, bindis, tikkas, and bangles. Anisha dazzled in a red gown embellished with gold at every hem, while Oliver complemented her in neutral tones. For the reception, Anisha changed into a flowy white gown paired with wristfuls of bangles, while Oliver donned a classic tuxedo.

cold sparks during first dance at wedding

Sparks flew as the two took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. Then it was time to really get the party started.

A highlight for the couple was watching the dance performances and witnessing their families connect throughout the weekend as a culmination of love and unity.
