Jenny and John’s wedding was designed to feel like a joyful, tropical daydream—vibrant, intentional, and deeply rooted in the natural beauty of Vieques. The ceremony took place at Sun Bay Beach, where we created a curved floral nest directly in the sand, using an explosion of color and texture to frame the couple against the sea. With the turquoise water ahead and palm shadows dancing across the sand, the setting was pure magic. For the reception, we carried the color story into a clear-top tent filled with cascading bougainvillea, woven lanterns, and bold tropical arrangements. The design mixed natural textures—bamboo, wood, rattan—with luxe floral moments that made everything feel fresh, alive, and a little bit wild. Jenny’s love of bright pinks and tropical greens led the palette, but it was the full sensory experience—sun, salt, florals, music—that defined the vibe: laid-back luxury with a wild, joyful heart.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]

The Proposal John’s proposal was perfectly unexpected and totally personal. During a round of golf at Newport National Golf Course in Rhode Island, Jenny stepped up to tee off on the 18th hole—completely unaware of what was about to happen. As her shot sailed down the fairway, John was already behind her, down on one knee. It was simple, sweet, and so authentically them—a moment of calm, beauty, and surprise at the end of a perfect round. Just like their wedding, it was full of heart and completely unforgettable.

[field title=”Bridesmaid Dresses”]Jenny gave her bridal party one guideline: wear something you love—and make it colorful. The result was a beautifully effortless mix of prints, textures, and tones that captured the playful, tropical spirit of the day.

Each bridesmaid chose her own dress, and together they created a vibrant, sunset-inspired palette of bold corals, warm pinks, floral prints, and flowing silhouettes. The unstructured approach gave the bridal party a modern, personal feel—every dress different, but perfectly cohesive when set against the island landscape.

With sunlight pouring in and wind in their hair, the bridesmaids looked like they were straight out of a destination wedding dream—free, joyful, and completely themselves.[/field]

[field title=”Food & Drink”]

Food was a huge priority for Jenny and John—they wanted their guests to experience a true island feast, full of flavor, color, and personality. Tin Box delivered exactly that, with a menu that was both elevated and deeply rooted in Puerto Rican flavor. The celebration kicked off with a lively cocktail hour featuring ceviche tostone cups, curry chicken pastelillos, smoky white bean purée, crab fritters, and a full lineup of pinchos—chicken, lamb, shrimp, and veggie—plus pulled pork sliders for good measure. Dinner was served family-style, with a fresh chef’s choice salad followed by a trio of entrées: peppercorn honey mustard chicken breast, filet mignon, and mahi mahi piccata, alongside a flavorful tofu and vegetable stir fry for the plant-based crowd. But the real showstopper? The dessert buffet—a sweet lover’s paradise stacked with peanut butter fudge bites, guava pastries, island lime pie, chocolate “madness” chunks, and celebratory coquito shots to cap it all off.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]

The florals for Jenny and John’s wedding were nothing short of a tropical explosion—bold, wild, and completely joyful. From the very beginning, it was clear that flowers would play a starring role in the overall design, and the floral team at Green Eyed Girl Weddings and Events brought that vision to life in full color. Jenny’s bouquet was as bold and striking as the rest of her wedding design—crafted to make a statement while still feeling romantic and refined. Designed by the floral team at Green Eyed Girl Weddings and Events, the bouquet featured a massive king protea at its center, surrounded by lush pink peonies, soft peach garden roses, deep burgundy foliage, and bright tropical greenery. The textures and tones played off the surrounding floral installations, tying her personal florals into the larger design story of the day. It was the perfect handheld version of the wedding itself: vibrant, modern, tropical, and a little bit wild. Wrapped in a simple satin ribbon and fastened with a delicate charm, Jenny’s bouquet felt deeply personal and completely unforgettable—just like the celebration. For the ceremony at Sun Bay Beach, the team created a low, curved floral nest directly in the sand, using layers of bougainvillea, protea, anthurium, and richly textured greenery to frame the ocean backdrop. It was designed to feel natural and romantic—letting the sea breeze and shadows from the palms mingle with the blooms. At the reception, florals were suspended in the air and spread across every table. The floral team installed cascading garlands of hot pink bougainvillea inside a clear-top tent, creating a ceiling of color that gave the entire event an immersive, enchanted feel. Below, wooden farm tables were styled with chiffon runners, taper candles, and lush, untamed centerpieces in a mix of tropical pinks, corals, blushes, and deep greens—each one unique and overflowing. The textures of woven chargers, bamboo chairs, and rattan lanterns paired perfectly with the organic, overflowing florals. The result was a space that felt both elevated and grounded—unapologetically vibrant, deeply personal, and infused with the wild beauty of Vieques.

[field title=”Wedding Cake”]

While Jenny and John went all-out with a decadent dessert buffet, they still wanted the tradition (and the photo op!) of a wedding cake. The solution? A simple, elegant cutting cake—small in size but full of charm. Frosted with smooth buttercream and styled with fresh blooms that echoed the day’s floral palette, the cake was the perfect centerpiece for their sweet moment. Nestled among the dessert display, it didn’t need to be extravagant—it just needed to be them. It was a lovely contrast to the abundant dessert spread and proof that sometimes, a little cake goes a long way when it’s done with intention.

[field title=”Readings, Ceremony Music, Reception Songs”]

A Personal Touch: Sergio Gutiérrez Jenny and John’s welcome dinner featured a truly special guest: Sergio Gutiérrez, a beloved local artist and musician known for his soulful presence and creative spirit. As he performed live music under the stars, Sergio simultaneously painted a custom portrait of the couple’s dog, capturing not just the likeness but the heart of their furry family member. It was a moment of surprise and delight for the guests—and one that Jenny and John will cherish forever. The painting now hangs in their home, a joyful reminder of the love, art, and music that set the tone for the entire wedding weekend.

The true showstopper of the reception design was the bougainvillea garlands suspended from the ceiling of the clear-top tent. Installed by the floral team at Green Eyed Girl Weddings and Events, the garlands brought the vibrant pinks of Jenny’s color palette to life in the most dramatic way—twisting overhead like floating tropical vines. The cascading bougainvillea created a canopy of color that transformed the space into a lush, floral dreamscape. Paired with hanging rattan lanterns and the open-air feel of the tent, the effect was both whimsical and transportive—like dining in the middle of a blooming Caribbean garden. As the sun set and candlelight took over, the bougainvillea glowed softly above the tables, adding warmth, movement, and that unmistakable touch of island magic.

[field title=”Special Detail #2″]

Following their oceanfront ceremony at Sun Bay Beach, Jenny and John welcomed guests to El Cerro, a historic hacienda set on 35 private acres in the hills of Vieques. With panoramic island views, swaying palms, and golden light stretching across the landscape, El Cerro offered the perfect blend of seclusion, natural beauty, and old-world charm. A clear-top tent was installed on the lawn, allowing the reception to feel open and airy while still intimate and stylish. As the sun set and the island breeze picked up, the space came alive with cascading bougainvillea, woven lanterns, and the joyful buzz of celebration. El Cerro’s blend of historic architecture, lush tropical surroundings, and total privacy gave Jenny and John the ideal setting for a reception that felt both elevated and deeply personal—a celebration full of heart, color, and unmistakable Vieques magic.

[field title=”Special Detail #3″]

A Note on the Wild Horses One of the most magical—and uniquely Vieques—elements of the day didn’t need to be planned at all. Wild horses, iconic to the island, wandered through the property at golden hour, adding an effortless sense of wonder to the celebration. Their quiet presence in the background felt like a blessing from the island itself—untamed, beautiful, and completely unforgettable.
