Meredith and Scott’s modern farmhouse wedding was full of personal touches amidst a classic black and white color palette for the most charming Los Olivos, California celebration that created the perfect elevated yet rustic vibe. Planned with the help of Kelsey Rae Designs and photographed by Brocoff Photography, Meredith and Scott made sure to work with their vendors to make each detail of the day at the Inn at Mattei’s Tavern meaningful, including an extra special ceremony layout that (literally) allowed them to be surrounded by their friends and family.

Classic black-tie style
Groom Scott wore a classic black tux that aligned with the luxurious elements of the black and white themed event.
Bridal style: Simple luxury
Meredith opted for two dresses – the first, a more structured strapless column dress from Sarah Seven complemented by a cathedral length veil. Carla Kayes Floral Design created a gorgeous white peony and rose bouquet for a timeless bridal accessory. Her second dress – worn for the reception – was a classic silk shift dress that screamed simple luxury.
Matching outfits with individuality
The children who were a part of the wedding were dressed in classic white dresses with individually selected white sandals and a hair accessory. The older girls’ dresses were sleeveless with applique florals, while the younger girls had matching tiered ruffle dresses with short sleeves.
Seating in the round
The day kicked off with the pair’s al fresco ceremony under the most romantic, floral-filled chuppah, which was the perfect backdrop as they said their vows. For a fun twist, the chuppah was in the middle of the guests (rather than at the front of rows of chairs) so that they were truly surrounded by their friends and family for their ceremony.
Meaningful favors: Palo Santo
For the couple’s reception, they wanted to embody understated sophistication. Their escort display read, “With love and intention, find your seat.” Guests found their seat assignments via jars of palo santo, known for its calming properties, and that also served as their favors to provide a moment of tranquility at home and evoke memories of the special day.
Lean into black accents
The bar epitomized rustic luxury with a soft wood backdrop and black marble bar top. Dried florals in terracotta pots complemented the darker black accents chosen by Meredith and Scott.
Black, white, and rustic
Meredith and Scott also incorporated thoughtful touches such as olive trees into the reception to honor their engagement in Greece. Black place settings with white and stone table numbers were surrounded by tall black candle holders and centerpieces filled with greenery and white anemones that stood out against the soft wood tables and venue details.
Dog-inspired desserts
The couple offered guests a variety of dog-inspired desserts, including Nat’s Ice Cream Bar and a precious single-tier cake from Bodega Bake Shop with Mr. + Mrs. in black lettering that included a surprise sculpture of their dog, Nat, as though he had taken a bite out of the cake.
