This mountain modern wedding was a dreamy celebration in Boulder, Colorado, set against the picturesque Flatiron mountains. Hosted at the St. Julien Hotel & Spa, the couple leaned into a chic garden party aesthetic with lush green and white florals, elegant details, and a focus on creating a welcoming and stylish outdoor experience for their 170 guests that traveled in from all over the country to celebrate with them. The August wedding capitalized on Boulder’s breathtaking summer evenings, with al fresco dining under twinkling market lights and thoughtfully curated décor that highlighted their neutral, sophisticated taste. Every element was designed to balance the natural beauty of the outdoors with polished, romantic charm. “The overall vibe of our wedding was a classic yet modern garden party aesthetic,” the bride explained. The couple desired to balance neutral elements and their own personal taste and style while leveraging the gorgeous space in Boulder, which they had chosen for their wedding weekend. Organic, overflowing florals took center stage in the couple’s design, featuring a wildflower-like, multidimensional aesthetic in shades of sage, chartreuse, whites, and creams.

The couple, Karly & George, is a quintessential COVID love story straight out of a Nancy Meyers movie. The couple met while Karly was stationed as an ICU nurse at the University of Colorado when COVID struck in April 2020. She soon found herself on a travel nurse contract in NYC to help with the pandemic. From the bride, “We hit it off the moment we met in Denver, and it felt so easy, natural, and fun from the very beginning! We hung out every day before I left for my assignment with no expectations, as the timing of things wasn’t ideal. We have the same sense of humor and so much in common, and spent much of that time laughing and joking around”. The couple, despite the distance between Denver & New York, kept in touch and began dating, ultimately choosing to stay together in Denver. In May of 2023, George took Karly on a spontaneous summertime trip to NYC to experience the city without any of the pandemic restrictions. George proposed by the water in Brooklyn, where Karly used to watch the sunsets on her nights off from the hospital, and managed to keep the whole thing a surprise!

Karly, in keeping with her modern garden party-themed wedding, selected a stunning, high-neckline, sleeveless wedding dress from designer Alena Leena Bridal. Her dress was fitted throughout, with an open low back and a slight trumpet silhouette to the skirt, with a mid-length train. The entire dress was hand-beaded in seed beads in a 3D floral pattern motif throughout. Karly paired her wedding dress with a dramatic chapel-length white veil, and her bridal bouquet featured overflowing roses, ranunculus, and amaranthus. Later in the evening, the bride had an outfit change into a structured, strapless silk number from designer Chosen by Kyha.

The bridal party’s attire added another layer of elegance to the wedding day. It complemented their overall design and theme, with the bridesmaids in an assortment of patterns and sage green-hued floor-length dresses from Reformation. Each bridesmaid carried a single white calla lily flower with a white ribbon tied at its base to add to the modern vibes.

Guests were greeted with a cocktail hour featuring passed hors d’oeuvres and signature cocktails, including an Aperol spritz and a Paloma, both favorites of the couple. For dinner, the couple chose to host an al fresco plated meal on the lawn of the St. Julien hotel. Guests were served local salads to start, and a choice of New York strip steak, blackened Scottish Salmon filet, or local chicken for their main entree.

Florals took center stage in the couple’s design. “We had very lush florals with a wildflower, organic aesthetic in different shades of whites, creams, and greens. We loved the multidimensional look of florals, as well as the incorporation of chartreuse throughout,” shared the bride. Colorado-based florist Lace & Lilies brought to life the bride’s vision of abundant, organic florals with a modern twist, creating centerpieces, bouquets, and compotes of white roses, white ranunculus, chartreuse amaranthus, white hydrangeas, and unexpected blooms like budding tomato vines and Anthurium lilies. Their ceremony featured a stunning half-circle floral installation at the altar, complemented by two pedestal arrangements at the entrance to the aisle. The intentionality behind the floral design extended to the reception, where long, family-style tables were adorned with candles and bud vases, creating a romantic and intimate atmosphere. “I absolutely loved the vibe of an al fresco dinner with market lighting and long tables with lots of candles and bud vases,” the couple noted. Karly & George opted to transform the lawn space at the St. Julien from an intimate outdoor ceremony to a candlelit al fresco dinner party for their guests. As the sun set, the couple’s vision of a romantic, open-air dinner party came to life. Market lights illuminated the tables, casting a soft glow over the lush florals and sparkling glassware, while guests enjoyed breathtaking views of the Flatirons.

Karly & George, like many Colorado couples, are devoted dog parents, and so it was fitting that their sweet puppy, Odin, was included as part of their wedding day festivities. The couple brought on board the wedding dog concierge service, Plus the Pups, to help take care of Odin throughout their wedding day, and ensure he was included in all the moments and photos.
