the vision: pastel garden romance
In June 2021, on their first post-COVID vaccination vacation to St. Thomas, Tom asked Lauren to marry him, and she said yes! Now, after 10 years together and almost three years engaged, they planned the wedding of their dreams. With the help of Two Sweet Sparrows, the bride chose a spring color palette of blush, peach, and lavender, as a nod to the colorful spring flowers in Biltmore’s historic gardens. Their central color of lavender was a tribute to the beautiful wisteria pergola that elegantly framed their ceremony on the Tennis Lawn. The vision for the wedding was centered around a muted floral and earthy theme, accented with elements of gold. We aimed to create a cozy and intimate atmosphere that prioritized the comfort and enjoyment of their guests. The decor featured soft, natural tones and organic textures to evoke a warm, inviting feel. For the reception, lush centerpieces by Floressence Flowers were designed to look as if they were growing directly out of the dinner tables, enhancing the natural, earthy feel.
the invitations
The couple’s invitations featured a custom watercolor drawing of their wedding venue, the Biltmore House, along with a custom monogram. To add a personal and fun touch, the invites also included a picture of their beloved dog, Harvey. As avid readers, the couple chose custom bookmarks as their wedding favors, which were a thoughtful and unique keepsake for their guests.
the fashion
In keeping with the pastel theme, Lauren ditched the typical ivory gown and opted for a lace gown lined in a gentle peach shade. Her bridesmaids also complemented the wedding design beautifully in mix-and-match lavender chiffon dresses. Thomas and his men wore matching gray suits with lavender bow ties and pocket squares.
the ceremony
The ceremony featured a string trio that played a mix of classic and modern music. The couple recessed to an instrumental version of “Shut Up and Dance,” which added a fun and personal touch to the ceremony’s end. A special reading from the Groom’s brother added a sweet and memorable moment to the ceremony.
the reception
They had a station-style setup, offering plenty of space for guests to eat, mingle, and dance. We aimed to avoid formal, stuffy seating arrangements to ensure that all friends could easily catch up and celebrate together. The emphasis was on a relaxed, social dining experience that encouraged movement and interaction.
the bar
The bar was a show-stopper, featuring elaborate floral arrangements that captivated guests and set the tone as they came in from the cocktail hour. Two specialty drinks were crafted to reflect the couple’s tastes: • His: Maple Whiskey Sour • Hers: Spiked Summer Berry Lemonade. These signature cocktails added a personal touch to the celebration and were a hit with the guests.
the cake
A towering five-tiered masterpiece served as the dessert for the night. The modern cake was cleanly decorated in fondant and sliced citrus embellishments.
