Medaya & Carlton envisioned their wedding weekend as an immersive Lowcountry experience—a heartfelt invitation for their loved ones to step into the magic of Kiawah. With friends and family traveling from near and far, they wanted every detail to reflect the effortless charm and coastal elegance that makes the region so special to them. From lively resort-green patterns to breezy rattan textures and rich coastal wood tones, their design was a love letter to the relaxed sophistication of the South. Inspired by the feeling of walking into a beautifully appointed Charleston home, they wove in classic Lowcountry design elements with playful, modern touches—a perfect reflection of their personalities and the joy they wanted to share with their guests.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]Carlton left nothing to chance when planning the perfect proposal for Medaya—down to a meticulously crafted five-page PDF, complete with a timeline dictating the exact moment Taylor Swift’s All Too Well music video could be played. Every detail was thoughtfully arranged for a magical surprise at the bride’s parents’ home in Greenville, SC. In the quiet of their backyard, he got down on one knee, and just when the bride thought the moment couldn’t get any sweeter, he revealed yet another surprise—their families, waiting nearby to celebrate with a joyful champagne toast. But the surprises didn’t end there. Under the guise of needing to rush home to let their dog out, the groom led her back to their house, where 40 of their closest friends were waiting to throw the ultimate engagement party. It was a night filled with love, laughter, and the perfect beginning to an unforgettable season of their lives.[/field]

The couple’s signature cocktails were not just delicious—they were brimming with personal meaning. The first, the Clacktail, was a refreshing grapefruit vodka concoction, a beloved family favorite on Carlton’s side and a clever nod to the groom’s last name. The second, the Reese-y Rita was a crisp, skinny margarita named after their cherished Golden Retriever, Reese. To make her presence felt throughout the night, the couple had custom watercolor napkins featuring Reese perched on a Kiawah golf cart, cocktail in paw—ensuring she was there in spirit, tail wags and all! Guests enjoyed these thoughtfully crafted drinks alongside passed hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour before transitioning into an intimate, candlelit dinner party for 140 of the couple’s closest friends and family. The seated dinner was an elegant affair, featuring perfectly prepared London Broil and rich Wild Mushroom Risotto.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Drawing inspiration from chic coastal dinner parties and playful patterns, the couple curated a wedding weekend that was both effortlessly elegant and deeply personal. Designed by Anderson Events with breathtaking florals by Festoon Charleston, every detail reflected their love for refined yet relaxed Lowcountry charm.
For the ceremony, the aisle was lined with lush ferns and delicate white and blue blooms, artfully arranged to appear as if they were growing naturally from the earth—blurring the line between design and the coastal landscape. The bride carried a timeless bouquet of lily of the valley, a nod to classic bridal elegance, while her bridesmaids held dainty white blooms that complemented the fresh, organic aesthetic. With the breathtaking ocean views as their backdrop, the couple exchanged vows in a setting that felt both intimate and grand—a seamless blend of nature and thoughtful design.
As cocktail hour transitioned into the evening, guests entered the reception tent through a grand entryway, where a stunning floral-covered table awaited. Varying-sized frames displayed the seating chart, guiding guests to their tables, while a framed quote—a playful nod to the bride’s love for Taylor Swift—read, “At every table, we’ll save you a seat.”
Under the tent, every table was adorned with bold green and white linens, accented by rattan chargers and lush, spilling florals, creating a layered and textural tablescape. To enhance the intimate dinner party feel, a mix of candlelight and dinner table lamps provided a warm, inviting glow, while overhead, rattan light fixtures and green chandeliers set the mood for the evening. Each guest was greeted with a custom green and cane watercolor menu, beautifully designed by Kate Eliza Creative, adding a thoughtful, personalized touch.
At the statement bar, guests were swept away by unobstructed ocean views, framed by a custom-built bar that served as both a focal point and a breathtaking backdrop. Above, hanging rattan baskets overflowed with vibrant ferns, while a nod to the groom’s Georgia roots came in the form of fresh peaches artfully displayed alongside elegant orchids and green table lamps. The bar also featured custom watercolor signage, tying in the couple’s vision of an upscale coastal dinner party with a playful, resort-inspired twist.[/field]

The couple crafted an intimate and deeply personal ceremony, setting the tone with the elegant sounds of a string quartet as guests arrived and the wedding party made their way down the aisle. In a moment that felt straight out of a love story, the bride walked down the aisle to a custom string arrangement of Taylor Swift’s “State of Grace”—a meaningful touch that made the moment even more special. The quartet continued playing through cocktail hour, blending modern hits with timeless elegance, creating the perfect transition from heartfelt vows to lively celebrations. As the evening unfolded, the couple wasted no time kicking off the party. After dinner, the Ascension Party Band took the stage, keeping the dance floor packed all night long. In a truly unforgettable moment, the bride joined the band on stage for the infamous “Pink Pony Club”—a crowd-favorite anthem that had guests cheering as she crowd-surfed her way through the celebration. It was the perfect mix of high-energy fun and pure, unfiltered joy—a night their guests won’t soon forget.

Guests gathered around elevated picnic tables, where spilling florals and glowing candlelight created a beautifully intimate yet lively atmosphere. The couple couldn’t think of a better way to welcome their guests than with a little friendly competition and pizza, two of the couple’s favorite things. [field title=”Special Detail #3″]The couple’s invitation suite was designed by Kate Eliza Creative.
