middle school sweethearts
Spenser’s first memory of Erica was in the fifth-grade lunchroom, where he noticed how cute she was. By eighth grade, he mustered the courage to text her, and the two began hanging out after school and going on dates at the local Mexican restaurant. At the time, it all seemed simple. They had no idea what journey lay ahead. Their shared memories include everything from getting their licenses to being one another’s prom dates. They were even voted “Cutest Couple” by their senior class. Throughout college, Erica and Spenser maintained a long-distance relationship until Spenser transferred to Erica’s university so they wouldn’t have to keep saying, “See you later.” In 2021, Spenser decided to propose on the beach where they had spent many summer days together. He wrote a heartfelt note, rolled it up, and placed it in a glass bottle, strategically hiding it in the sand for Erica to find. As she read the note, he got down on one knee.
the invitations
Pretty painted flowers set the tone for the big day ahead in these timeless wedding invitations. We love the scalloped corner detail and the wax seal, simple touches like these can really add to the guest experience.
the flowers
Sunset colors inspired Erica and Spenser’s wedding day in Virginia Beach, celebrating life in vibrant hues and the everlasting days of June. The bride, a self-proclaimed “flower fanatic,” knew that florals would transform their space, adding an incredible burst of color to the Cavalier Golf & Yacht Club. Magnificent floral pillars by Virginia Floral Design stood at the altar as the ceremony unfolded along the water’s edge, creating a dramatic backdrop.
the fashion
Erica wore a simple crepe gown by the trendsetting designer Made With Love, featuring an ultra-low back and draped cowl detail. She paired the gown with white heels adorned with tulle flowers across the straps, which matched the dimensional floral applique on her veil.
Her bridesmaids wore mix-and-match dresses in shades of peach, some featuring prints, some solid, and some with 3-D embroidered details.
Spenser and his groomsmen all rocked blue suits that echoed the blue of the water paired with matching navy and ivory floral-print ties that added an extra element of fun to their look.
an outdoor wedding essential
We were so happy to see this! Couples, if you are getting married outside and your guests will have to walk on grass or sand, please, PLEASE have a station with these trusty heel covers that help distribute weight and keep heels from sinking.
a bubbly escort display
Guests were welcomed by a champagne wall with metallic tokens on the rim to guide them to their tables, alongside outdoor games set up on the lawn.
a tented reception
The outdoor reception was awash in shades of coral and pink, with exposed wooden tables and raffia placemats adding earthy texture. Hanging at the center of the tent was their daydream-worthy six-foot floral chandelier.
ditching the cake
Instead of a traditional wedding cake, the couple opted for a gelato cart, which featured customized wafers depicting the couple’s initials to top each dessert. Next to the cart rested a floral bush, a special gift from their florist, symbolizing their wedding and a reminder to let love grow for years to come.
