Event planner and founder of My House Events, Barrie, worked with close friends, vendors, and colleagues in the city to help create her and her husband-to-be’s dream New Orleans wedding at Clouet Gardens and Bywater Wonderland, which featured elements like a float, glitter bar, and parade. Captured by Rush Jagoe, Barrie and Morgan wanted their wedding to feel like a party to honor their love for the New Orleans culture and community across every single moment of their day, and boy did the day deliver! Keep scrolling to see how this colorful, whimsical day came together in an elevated way.
Setting the tone from the front door
Guests were greeted right from the start with colorful, textured floral pieces by Fat Cat Flowers that set the stage for what they could expect inside.

Why New Orleans is the perfect wedding destination
Bridal style: An unexpected pop of neon
Bride Barrie embraced the colorful elements of her luxe wedding by opting for a neon green dress complete with a ruffle-edged skirt and off the shoulder design.
Ceremony surprise: A colorful awning
Barrie and Morgan said “I do” under a colorful awning complemented by floral arrangements that played off of tropical vibes to match the colorful details.
Guest dress code: COLOR!
Guests embraced the party spirit, wearing patterned and colorful attire to fit the bold aesthetic. The dress code even applied to the couple: Groom Morgan wore a patterned red suit that stood out against the crowd next to Barrie’s neon green dress during their celebratory parade.
Top reception priority: The food
Barrie knew that for her wedding to Morgan, the menu would be the top priority, as food is a huge part of her business and how she helps bring people together. Guests arrived and found La Cocinita Food Truck serving dishes like arepas and tacos, and Little Kitchen served appetizers including caramelized mushroom tostaditos, tuna crudo, and hot honey chicken. Both vendors are ones Barrie has worked with for years, so they were close to her heart and so special to include on her big day.
Custom cocktails guests actually want to drink
At the reception, guests enjoyed dinner, dancing, and drinks all night long! They had two signature cocktails: the Nova, named after the couple’s dog, was a cilantro and dill-infused mezcal drink with pineapple and pepper shrub, and the Olive, named after Morgan’s family’s dog, featured gin, lemon, thyme, and elderflower tonic. The mezcal drink was a personal touch, since Morgan’s family grows agave and loves mezcal!
Modern takes on classic moments
The meal that evening featured modern takes on classic New Orleans dishes, like a grits and gumbo bar, braised beef with coconut milk, miso collard greens, and chili butter and lime summer squash. Dessert included Crown Royal bread pudding and frozen chocolate-covered bananas. And of course, they couldn’t forget the late-night snack, with pizza from Pizza Delicious being the perfect late-night bite before guests headed to Vaughan’s bar for an afterparty!
