We love it when a couple takes our expectations of a specific theme or destination and throws them out the window. When you think of a destination wedding in Bali, you probably think tropical paradise, bright colors, and blue waters. And while Bali is certainly all of those things, this couple threw a monochromatic wedding that completely challenged everything we thought we knew about a wedding in Bali. Instead of focusing on the coast, Global Weddings put the focus on the ornate architecture of Mandapa Reserve and the lush green natural surroundings. There is no other place on earth that spells r-o-m-a-n-c-e for Thomas and Howdaya like Bali. For starters, the paradise island is where they took their first adventure trip together as a couple. It’s also the place where they realized they were made for each other—despite Howdaya’s long-time claim of not being the marrying type and Thomas’s uncertainty about their future together.

As time continued to prove their bond, the bride and groom returned to Bali to tie the knot, and it welcomed them in the most blissful way. Set against the lush greenery of Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Bali, their intimate wedding brought together classic elegance and modern simplicity.

Elegant and effortlessly cool, Howdaya was a vision in her strapless chiffon gown and a flowing chapel-length veil. The lightweight fabric and thigh-high split were the perfect fit for the tropical venue. Thomas opted for a classic black tuxedo accessorized with timeless black Oxford shoes.

a minimalist ceremony

The couple’s fairytale wedding began with an endearing ceremony setup in the garden estate, where the aisle was lined with pristine white floral arrangements by Bloomz Flowers & Rentals. A small musical ensemble played softly, with live melodies flowing along the breezy summer air.

a warm reception

As the sun gave way to a warm evening, the outdoor reception began in an equally intimate and festive gathering. The lovely dinner area featured a rustic wooden vibe that complemented the cultural atmosphere of the open greenery. Edison bulbs were draped above the tables, casting a warm, inviting glow that enhanced the romantic ambiance. The table itself was adorned with delicate white flowers and flickering candles, while the serene night sky served as a stunning backdrop. While champagne flowed and meals were served, toasts and speeches decorated the celebration with heartfelt moments. The reception concluded with a highlight of a Balinese traditional fire dance, which provided the perfect finishing touch to this sophisticated yet adventurous wedding in one of the most magical and romantic places on earth.
