The bride and groom envisioned a refined palette that echoed the timeless charm of the historic Tonnara — soft off-white, lush green, warm beige, natural wood tones, and touches of bronze, seamlessly blending elegance with the rustic soul of the venue.
Lanaya and Peter didn’t just plan a wedding — they dreamed up an experience. One that would stay with their guests long after the last glass was raised and the final song played. With loved ones journeying all the way from Canada and the U.S., they wanted each moment to feel like a heartfelt embrace — personal, beautiful, and deeply Sicilian. They found their dream setting in the spellbinding Tonnara di Scopello — a centuries-old tuna fishery tucked into a secluded cove, where rugged stone walls meet the shimmering blues of the Mediterranean. It was here, beneath ancient arches and sun-warmed terraces, that their vision came to life. The décor told its own gentle story — one of sea breezes, soft light, and nature’s quiet poetry. Shells gathered by the shore, weathered driftwood, and delicate flowers in muted tones echoed the beauty of the coastline, while the air was filled with the scent of salt, sun, and something magical. Everything was chosen with intention — not to impress, but to invite. To draw their guests into the rhythm of Sicily and into the love Lanaya and Peter share. It was a celebration rooted in place, in purpose, and in the kind of joy that lingers — tender, effortless, and unforgettable.

[field title=”Proposal Story”]
On October 9th, 2023, just a day before Peter’s birthday, he orchestrated a deeply heartfelt proposal at the enchanting Gardens of the Pillar and Post in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The Gardens are a stunning six-acre outdoor space, meticulously designed to evoke the charm of Claude Monet’s iconic gardens in Giverny, France. As twilight fell, soft lights began to illuminate the pathways and greenery, casting a magical glow that made the entire space feel like a dream. The gardens bloomed with fragrant climbing roses and offered a romantic haven reminiscent of a painting come to life. At the heart of it all was the signature green bridge, arched gracefully over a serene pond where koi fish drifted beneath a gentle cascade of water. It was here, on the bridge, an intimate area overlooking the pond and waterfall, that Peter got down on one knee. With thoughtful care, he arranged for the gardens to remain open an extra hour—just for this moment—and to make it personal, he ensured that Harley, our beloved dog, was there for the moment. As Peter got down on one knee, Harley proudly stood on two legs , placing her paws on his shoulders and giving him a quick kiss – a funny but unforgettable moment of approval. Surrounded by the beauty of nature, art, history, and love, it was an unforgettable evening.

[field title=”Food & Drink”]As the sun dipped lower over the Sicilian coast and the ceremony gave way to celebration, the scent of garlic, citrus, and freshly baked bread began to drift through the air. Catering Rosanero didn’t just serve dinner — they created a sensory journey through Sicily’s soul.
At live cooking stations, chefs moved with effortless grace, preparing dishes before eager eyes. Guests wandered from one corner to the next, drawn in by the sizzle of olive oil and the rich aromas of traditional street food — each bite a tribute to the island’s culinary heart.
There was something deeply nostalgic and yet utterly celebratory in the menu. A vibrant cheese buffet welcomed everyone like an old friend, while trays of Palermo’s beloved street snacks brought a sense of playful indulgence.
At the tables, the feast continued in elegant waves:
Lemon risotto, fragrant and silky, crowned with sweet red prawns that tasted like the sea itself.
Pasta alla Norma, humble yet heavenly, with roasted eggplant and clouds of creamy ricotta salata.
Fresh-caught fish, tender and full of flavor, accompanied by a bright, caper-kissed Pantesca salad, straight from the traditions of Pantelleria.
Every dish was more than a meal — it was a moment. A memory made around the table. A celebration of land, love, and the layered beauty of Sicilian cuisine.

[field title=”Florals & Decor”]Lanaya & Peter drew inspiration from the sea and the enchanting charm of their wedding location. What followed was a beautifully curated design brought to life by the talented team at Blanc Aux Reveurs. The décor featured not only delicate florals and weathered driftwood, but also seashells and vintage-style candlesticks — a subtle nod to the natural beauty of the coastline.
One of the most memorable details was the seating chart, thoughtfully created using local terracotta pots and soft, flowing fabric that complemented the courtyard perfectly. That same fabric reappeared at each guest’s place setting, where a hand-calligraphed name tag in the shape of a seashell added a deeply personal and poetic touch.

And then, just when hearts were full and glasses half empty, came the sweet crescendo of the evening — a tribute to beloved Italian wedding tradition. The millefoglie took center stage: layer upon layer of whisper-thin pastry, filled with clouds of delicate cream and crowned with seasonal fruit and just the right touch of sugar. A dessert as light as the sea breeze, and just as unforgettable. Beside it, golden cannoli — crisp shells filled to order with silky sweet ricotta — stood proudly, a symbol of Sicilian joy. Guests gathered with wide eyes and smiling hearts, drawn in by the aroma, the ritual, and the promise of just one more bite. More than just desserts, these final touches offered something deeper: a moment of celebration wrapped in tradition, shared sweetness, and a dash of Sicilian elegance that lingered long after the last crumb.

Lanaya and Peter’s wedding ceremony at the Tonnara di Scopello was nothing short of magical. Set against the majestic backdrop of the Faraglioni rocks rising from the sea, their intimate ceremony left every guest in awe. A dear friend of the couple officiated the union, adding a personal and heartfelt touch to the occasion. As they shared their first kiss as newlyweds, the iconic chords of AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long” filled the air, prompting spontaneous cheers and applause from their jubilant guests.

Although Lanaya and Peter’s beloved pets couldn’t attend their wedding in Sicily, they were thoughtfully included in the celebration. Instead of traditional table numbers, each dinner table was named after one of their cherished animals—Harley the dog, Bugs the cat, and Lola the rabbit. This personal touch added warmth and character to the reception, with photos of the couple’s furry companions. In a delightful surprise, the bridal party made their grand entrance to dinner waving around large prints of the heads of the three pets, bringing smiles and laughter to all.
